My kid has been offered a full ride to a small school. Being just a junior, this has taken us by surprise. There hasn't been much contact with any other schools and now when she does initiate contact, does she mention this offer? We made an unofficial visit last week and it went well except for the distance of the school and she may have some questions about the rigor of her major (is it enough?)

Does she love the school? Very important.

I should think as a Jr–anything verballed now doesn’t mean much–
Which sport? Is it early for her sport in October of Jr yr?
How are her stats, transcript and SATs etc? Check the common data set on the schools website to see how she fits.

she doesn’t need to mention her “offer” to anyone else. My D was offered partial and full rides at a dozen schools, she didn’t dwell on it or talk to coaches about it. What she did do is what kelyme is advising, she pursued the three coaches/schools she loved. And thankfully they pursued her.

do tell your daughter to get back to coaches who are pursuing her, this is an area I failed in. all sports are small communities so it’s important to write your thank you notes to any coach that calls or writes a “real note” to your d.

In particular, I feel bad, for not encouraging/requiring my daughter to call or write a thank you for the opportunity letter to Cal, Duke, and Michigan.
