how do you apprach a professor for a recommendation letter?

I have 2 professors that I plan on asking recommendation letters from.
However, I have only known both of these professors for only 1.5 months so far (both of whom I am taking classes with this semester).

First professor, he is a nice and approachable person.
The class is small (~10 people) so I have had a chance to talk to him both in the class and outside of class (both after classes and through office hours). Furthermore, I have told him that I plan on applying to graduate school this year, and have asked him about the reputations of various graduate schools.

Second professor, he's a nice guy as well. However, he is an extremely busy man. Furthermore, the class is large (over 50+ people); therefore, I only have had a few opportunities to talk to him both in class and outside of class. But one saving grace is that I am currently doing research on a project that he supervises (though I am working on the project with his grad student rather than with the professor directly).

Do you think it would be ok to ask these 2 professors for letters of recommendation or should I seek other rec letter writers?

thanks

Should be no problem - writing those letters is part of their job.

Since neither knows you well, you might want to make a little packet of information for them with a copy of your transcript, your SOP and CV. Then go in during office hours and chat. If you make an appointment, be sure to mention that the topic is grad school and offer the info packet prior to the meeting.

do the info packet even for people who do know you well, just to make sure they're up to date on your recent work.
