I don't think there's any other reason why three students who applied and got into Harvard early (and another into Yale early) got waitlisted at Columbia regular.</p>

<p>Considering the fact that columbia regular has an admit rate around 9%, that's completely possible. Although I agree it's possible they share a list of early acceptances- as this list is relatively much shorter and easier to handle. (Afterall they also compile lists of development cases and the like).</p>
<p>However the thought of them sharing information and going back and forth between different institutions in the middle of the application processing/judging period is not realistic at all.</p>
<p>Which Ivy you chooses should depend first on which major you want (Cornell is best for Engineering, for example) and second on personal preference factors.</p>
