How do you create a hook?
I thought RSI was a hook until I got deferred from Harvard.
Hooks don't guarantee you admission, silly. But RSI is definitely nothing to sneeze at. It's awesome! :)

Yeah, especially considering I'm probably going to get rejected from everywhere :P

Such a negative attitude.

what is RSI?
Research Science Institute. It's a damn rigorous academic summer program (I say "damn" as in "very", not "condemned") revolving around science, math, and technology. In other words, a Nerdfest. :) But from what I hear, very cool.

Thanks (never heard of it!). One thing I've learnt from this website: you never know. People with top scores aren't getting in to their chosen schools, people with ultra-low scores are getting in for another reason, people end up transferring from their once dream-school...you never know (and stats don't mean everything by far).

Makes it sort of exciting, though.

Haha, I guess it's exciting if you get in and end up happy.

Ehh, and most people who get rejected from their dream school live on and realize the path they had chosen isn't so bad.

I would assume that's true. Although maybe they can't realize it straight away; hopefully they would in the future though.

I believe this is turning into a "does everything happen for a reason" page! I hope Reeze got some help at least.

Nonsense! Just a page to soothe people who have gotten rejected from their dream schools, and straighten out misinformed people who think hooks are a must for Ivies. ;)

Haha. Aren't hooks a must for any school? Oh this process... what a crazy mish mash.

Btw, if you want hooks, take a look at the MIT board on the craziest hook. I mean, wow.

Mirror, I don't get your screenname. Please tell me.

It's ok. I don't understand it, either.

First thing I saw in the morning + of + Last thing I saw before sleeping = mirrorofdirt. Lame, but I made it a year ago and cringe every time I think about my stupid screenname scheme.

Haha, but at least you have a story to tell about it.

Ehh, but it's like asking a guy whose dog bit off his schlong how he lost his schlong. Interesting story, yet embarrassing.

Edit - what a horrible comparison. Maybe I've been on here for too long. What time is it where you live, anyway?

Well obviously it was so late I went to bed! (It was about 3.15am).

bumppp

also, how do you know how good your essays are? I don't think my essays blow you away, but everyone who read them said they liked them and that they showed a good representation of who I am.

That's whats important.

Research Science Institute

Dude. . .how did you get deferred with RSI? What are your stats?

I think they defer RSI people just so they can say they defer RSI people.

I don't think you can outthink the admission process. You could look amazing on paper and still not get in, or have a couple bad scores and get accepted. I guess it depends on whether or not they think you'd be a fit for their school. Reeze: what topics did you choose for your essays? It's good you got other peoples' opinions, I'm sure they're good.
