How do you feel about group work?

I like to collaborate if everybody else in the group is willing to give equal contribution to our efforts. Otherwise I feel like I could accomplish so much more working by myself.
I agree with presentations though- it really takes the pressure off your shoulders when you have your peers on the stage with you.

I really like group work with motivated people, since working with people who do their share of the work and bring their ideas often makes the project much better. But I really dislike it when the mark is a group mark, because then I feel like I didn’t receive the mark I earned. I don’t really mind it when teachers assign groups actually, because in these cases, it’s always been an individual mark (although usually my mark still got affected by my group). I actually find it worse when I have to work with friends sometimes, because I don’t really feel comfortable telling them to work when they slack off and it’s far too easy to get distracted.

It depends on the group - but a lot of times I get stuck with people that don’t do anything - this year I had a group project and one of the people in the group did literally nothing, he wasn’t even there when we did our presentation

I agree with all that has been said so far. I don’t mind group work as much as before. I still hate it but if a person starts to slack off and depend on me, I stop working. The teachers can sometimes help out by intervening. Most of the time, they just want to sit back to see the lovely results of taking a break from teaching and giving more work at the same time.

Grade 8 year:
“If you don’t do your share, I won’t do mine.”
“You wouldn’t put your grades into jeopardy like that. You’re such a try-hard.”
I ended up getting a C on that assignment. From then on, it was made clear that anyone who tried to push the work to me would be sorely disappointed and we would both fail. Since then, group project members have been mostly cooperative.

Eww.

I save things for the last minute and it’s not a big deal, but more importantly, I do things right all the time and other people don’t.

Honestly, group work has grown on me. Being able to give other people jobs that I don’t want to do is a nice bonus.
Granted, we never get work done in school, but I like being able to split work.

I like doing group projects with smart, hard-working people since they will be able to carry all the weight and allow me to relax.

I hate doing group projects with lazy people like myself, though; I usually have to do all the work.
