Enough with the constant group work?

Do you think schools are over doing the "socialize" and "group work", as to discriminate against introverted students. I think this is a real eye opener, it was for me at least. Susan Cain: The power of introverts | Video on TED.com

Introverts still need to be able to work with others.

I consider myself an introvert but I don’t mind group work as long as everyone pulls their own weight. It’s annoying when my group members don’t do any work and I have to do everything because I want to get a good grade.

Eh, it’s all right. I prefer working alone, even when given the option to work in a group. I usually do most of the work in a group project, because that’s just the way I am. People need social skills. Groupwork can’t hurt.

Group work is for collaboration, sharing ideas, and shared responsibility. If you don’t practice group work now, how will you handle a project that your boss assigns to you, to be completed with coworkers/different departments?

I’m introverted, but there’s a difference in working together on a class project, and doing something like networking or public speaking.
(I didn’t watch the TED talk, so I’m probably missing something.)

I agree that it’s important to know how to be able to communicate with others and be social every now and then but I just hate group work. I feel like some teachers always get the idea that if they put you in a group with certain people you’ll help them do better and get the job done quicker but really you just end up doing all the work yourself. I also hate when I have to do group work for some really big or important grade. I feel like I’m depending on my classmates to get a grade I’m happy with but if I was working alone I would only have myself to blame. I feel like some teachers are oblivious(?) to the fact that not everyone puts effort towards being responsible and doing their part when it comes to group work.
