my daughter is a junior this year and is very interested in getting into vet school. i was just wondering how to get into the vet scholars early admission program and get into DVM. does this apply to certain states and schools or is it at all? thank you very much!

There are only four vet schools that I know of that have conditional early admission for high school seniors: Kansas State University, the University of Missouri-Columbia, Purdue University and Mississippi State University. Take a look at the website for each vet school and you’ll find a link for the early admissions program that should have the information that you need. My daughter is entering her last year of the early admissions program at Kansas State and will then be going on to vet school there, so if you have additional questions, please pm me and I’ll put you or your daughter directly in touch with her. Caveat: given that vet school admission is more competitive than medical school admission, these programs are very difficult to get into and very demanding once you’re in. It’s important to remember that vet school is not about cute, fluffy animals – it’s an intense four years of medical study and a LOT of hard science courses. Many kids wash out of the prevet curriculum before they ever see a vet school lecture hall.
