I went here for 2.5 years, my parents didn’t want to keep paying for this schools crazy tuition so I had to drop out and move back home. I wish I could go back, I loved it there, I was in the school of cinematic arts too, oh well. How do you guys afford this school?
I’m sure some get loans (subsidized and private) and others have a combination of loans and grants. Some are full pay. Agree it’s a crazy amount that one could spend years and years repaying.
In another thread, you mention grades as the reason for leaving USC?
Eitherway, your instate option is likely the most affordable. Are you going to attend USF?
It was grades and tuition, I had lousy grades one semester and I still could have gone back, but my parents said “were not going to pay that kind of tuition for you to screw around”. So yeah it was kind of both.
I’m probably going to go to USF, unless I try to go to a community college first and then reapply to UF and FSU.
It kind of sucks having to go to a school that ranks so much lower than USC, and its annoying because I got into a bunch of highly ranked schools back when I was in high school
While you got into some very good colleges maybe they were just too competitive for you (based on your poor grades) and these “lesser colleges” are actually better matches for you?
It’s rough to pay for college nowadays. If you don’t have the money, you can’t go.
My son got into USC and so did my daughter. After seeing what USC offered in merit and how much better, financially, other schools’ packages were, it was a no brainer to send them elsewhere. Did they care? Not really. They were happy where they got in.
We had 529 accounts for each of our children. We also continue to try to save money, here and there to be able to afford their educations.
If they’re prices are too expensive for you, you have to make what you can with the budget your parents give to you. The primary funding source, for most students, is the Bank of MOM and DAD.
Some people can afford it, some people can’t, some can’t but find ways to still send their kid there. More than half are full pay at USC. But Bank of MOM and DAD (love that) should only make sound investments. If the student isn’t going to put in the time and effort that the college investment deserves and requires, they should pursue other options with their money.
There are lot of people (particularly young people) that don’t realize an opportunity that is before them - whether college, a first job, an audition, etc., and don’t put in the right amount of time/effort. But the good thing is you are young and have time to correct it at your next school. Don’t look back, move forward.
In another post you said you “went to school out of state at USC in LA for 2.5 years, dropped out because of bad grades.” If your grades cost you all or part of any scholarship that could be part of the problem.
In any event it is always important to budget for 4 years of a school and be sure it is affordable before starting. I hope you find an affordable place to finish your degree.
