How do you know if a conservatory or university if financially healthy?

Now more than ever I want my child to attend a school with vast resources. How do I research the schools to find out. So far he has been accepted to Berklee, Then New School, SFCM, and DePaul. What are some resources and independent resources to look into the financial health of an institution?

Endowments are a good measure of “pocket depth”, but are you thinking about monetary stability itself, or the capital being used in ways to benefit students (new dorms, enough cleaning crews, ample dining halls that are not overcrowded,…)?

Monetary stability itself, we are in a financial storm and I want to send my son to a institution that is likely to weather it well.

Then, I would the look at size of endowment.

I think there is somewhere online that gives each school a letter grade for their financial health. I can’t remember where I saw it.

The letter grade is from Forbes. I don’t agree with all of them since they don’t take the value of the real estate into account. Fordham has a lot of very valuable real estate in NYC and maybe not as much in investments, but Grinnell would have a hard time selling its property in Iowa. JMO.

Yesterday I had a lot more value in my investments than today. Many endowments are going to off by millions by this summer.
