How do you know if you're EOP?

Under the "steps to enrollment" on the Admissions site (and under the after you have accepted subheading) I have this:

Consider EOP's Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP).

Does that mean I'm in EOP?? Or is this on everyone's page?

i think that means your EOP. I dont have that

Wow! I hope so!

Anyone else have it/not have it?

I don’t have it. I don’t really know what EOP is though, haha.

It stands for Educational Opportunity Program. It’s for underprivileged kids (i.e. first to college, low income) and it’s kinda like a support group in a way but there’s a bunch of benefits if you’re a member (like special one-on-one academic/career counseling).

I have that too! Could you tell me more information about it? What are the benefits?

Here’s the website:
[University of California, Santa Barbara EOP - EOP Home](Home | Educational Opportunity Program)

We’ll probably meet at some workshop thing.

“Once you are admitted to the university, our counselors are available to work with you on an individual basis. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet other students whose struggles and successes may be very much like your own. Through this contact, your intellectual and personal growth will be supported every step of the way.”

“The Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP) is a two-week intensive academic summer bridge for students who wish to seriously prepare for academic honors and success at the University. The STEP program introduces new freshmen students to life and learning at UCSB, and provides an opportunity to receive a nurturing transition prior to 18,000 other students returning to campus in the Fall. Students take courses in mathematics, writing and affective skills that introduce critical thinking and the independent thinking necessary for scholastic honors at the university level. Faculty hold evening study sessions to promote advanced learning. Evening programs and workshops provide opportunities to excel in computer software and Internet technologies.”

And I think there’s scholarship opportunities later on if you’re active in it. I’m not 100% sure though.

The actual services that come with is are listed here:

hey, i have that too!

Anyone get the e-mail from EOP about Spring Insight?

Yeah, I did. Are you going?

^Yeah. Is there anything special for just EOP students at Spring Insight, then? Or is it just like a reminder?

Yeah, there are special events for EOP students. I’m going to Spring Insight for sure, I just am not sure I am going to go to all the events because I might have other things I’d like to do more, like exploring the dorms, classes, etc. I’m also not going to the STEP program so I don’t really want to sit and hear information about that.

Did you read the email? I’ll post it here for anyone who wants to see:
