I'm questioning about my major and I'm scared that I will opt out for a different major once I attend college. With this in mind, should I select a college regardless of what my admitted major was (as well as considering how hard it is to change majors)? Or should I choose a college based on my major?

Unless you are very comitted to a major that does not exist at certain classes of institutions (e.g., engineering), then you should not choose a school based on major. Even then you’re just choosing a sector, certainly not a specific institution.

I’d think more broadly about your academic interests - quantitative stuff: math, science? humanities: religious studies, languages, english? social science: psych, econ?

With that in mind, start looking for colleges that will offer you the opportunity to explore the general area(s) you’re interested in so you can find the major that fits you best. There’s no reason that a high schooler should have to know their college major.

Other things you should think about to help you choose a college: affordability, urban/rural, size of student body, the campus, social life, and how you fit in with the other students.
