ok so I just got my midterm scores back and I was only on the mean - again - even though I studied my butt off for this exam. obviously i'm really, really fed up with it -___________- so i've learned the hard way that studying harder =/= smarter. to those who have taken intro to biology, how did you study for the exams?

edit: i know that mean isn't particularly awful, but i know that i could have done better and i need my gpa high because i'm... premed lol :/

I read the textbook, read the posted powerpoints of the lecture notes, and completed the practice test the professor released. I got the second highest score on the final out of about 450 students so it worked for me. Maybe try to think of the big picture of what’s going when you read the textbook and don’t fuss too much about the details.

Ask your professor. Go to their office hours (+1 teacher pet points) and say “This is how I prepared for your exam. Is this how you would recommend I study?” Maybe there are certain things your professor is looking for, questions they’re writing. Straight definitions vs. applied concepts, etc. At the very least, go to office hours; chances are your professor is sitting their office all alone waiting.
