Do you talk to yourself in the second person, like "you better do this," or in the first person, like "I better do this?" Or even the third person, "he/she (me) better do this?"

When I was little I always talked to myself in the first person. Always. Now I mostly use second person, but sometimes first. My mom thinks I'm crazy for even thinking about this... ;)

Only time I really talk to myself is when trying to reason out an argument. It’s easier to play both sides when you give each side a different “voice”.

I always go like “I really don’t think that will…” or “I know for a fact that…” “It seems like…” that’s the best way to do it. You can spatially set things out by doing that

I use both first and second person, depending on the occasion. When I’m puzzled, it’s usually first person. When I’m mad at myself, it’s usually second person.

^ I’m just fascinated how you can talk to yourself in third person… it seems so funny to talk to myself about myself.

It’s weird because when I have an argument with myself, I usually use first person, like Tavia on Fiddler on the Roof (“I should do this; but on the other hand, maybe I should do that”). I almost always use second person for yelling at myself (“you stupid moron, why did you say that!?”) or when I’m commanding myself (“don’t you DARE have another ice cream.”)
