how do you tell people you're going to Harvard...

^That's irrevocably stupid.

^ Why would you not tell people? The OP should be proud, not embarrassed! Just don't act all cocky about it, or openly taunt those us us who aren't going :)

^You meant to use "^^"

Haha, well I imagine that you will figure out your preferred response to that question after a few tries. Let me know how it goes.

The problem with the "small school in Boston" approach is that if the person finds out later on that you're going to Harvard, they'll think you're even more arrogant and pretentious than if you had just told them the truth in the first place. "He doesn't think I'm worthy of even hearing the name of his school. What a stuck up jerk!"

as a student who will not be applying to any ivies, but keeps up with the top of the class, i would not be offended in any manner if one of my peers told me they were going to harvard. i think it makes sense to wait until asked, however this seems unfair because why should you hide what you've accomplished while the girl going to a less difficult school is allowed to falunt it? id say thats just the way it goes and if you prefer to be well-liked, wait to be asked.

Don't say this, whatever you do:
"a small school in Cambridge, you probably haven't heard of it, but its nice and I'm happy to be there."
Wow.. I definitely would not say the quote above...
I'd just say "I go to Harvard."
Who cares what the other person is thinking; 9/10 times you say it, they are going to be amazed and ask you about it....
I'm nearly positive that the first thing they are going to think is not going to be "bragging much??", but "WOW".
