So my mom makes a pretty low income, around 30,000 but we get around 12,000 of child support from my dad. So will they take the child support into account for how much aid they give me since its untaxable income?

Will some/all of the child support end when you turn 18 or graduate from high school?

Any child
Support you receive must be listed on the FAFSA and PROFILE forms.

I know it must be listed, but from experience, do you guys think it will lower my potential award?

It will lower any FA offer.

Yes, it will be a factor in determining your EFC. As your EFC goes up, your financial need goes down and financial aid is based on need.

And as your income goes UP, so does your EFC.

Child support is a form of income to the parent receiving it.

I believe it will depend on when it ends. Child support for my senior in HS ends the day she graduates from high school.

You have to report any child support received in 2011 as untaxed income on FAFSA. It will increase income so will also increase the EFC (unless you are eligible for the auto 0 EFC). If the child support is ending, you will then have to apply for a professional judgement adjustment at the school to reflect loss of income.
