How does Claremont McKenna send Early Decision Admission letters?

My son applied ED at Claremont McKenna. All the website says is that they respond by Dec 15th. Do they send a letter by regular mail? Or, can you find out online? Also, how do we know if they received all the required application materials (like test scores, etc)?

They send a letter by regular mail and they will contact you if you are missing any application materials. I’ve personally already received my decision in November. So if he hasn’t by now, I’d probably say its not a good sign…

Whoa, rawsugar, you already got your decision for ED I this year? When did you get it??

CMC nation stated that they will notify on Dec. 15 and send a letter on that day. Rawsugar, could you enlighten us when you received the letter in Nov.?

I think R.Sugar is a transfer student.

from CMC nation:

i was told by a reliable source that CMC went into committee this past monday and intends to be finished with ED1 by 12/13, so raw sugar is BSing.

socratesplus is correct. I called the admissions office yesterday and spoke with one of the assistant dean of admissions. I was told that CMC only uses snail mail, and they will try to send out all letters soon, so we will get them by the 15th (hopefully!).

Personally, I think it is weird that they are one of the very few schools left that still use the old fashioned post office system, instead of using email or a login and password type system.

my s applied ED last year & is a current freshman. prior to Dec 15th the college sent him a snail mail letter with a unique password. He was directed to log on at 5pm on Dec 15 using the password to see if he was accepted. A snail mail acceptance followed and it arrived about a week later. Online is the way to go. If you haven’t received a letter with password I would call the admissions office to inquire.

except none of the people on this forum have received it from what I can tell…

My son has not received a password letter yet. I did speak to the CMC admissions office a couple of weeks ago and the gal did not think they would be sending the passwords this year (only for RD). RAWSUGAR is definitely BSing, because I asked her. She said no one knows yet from ED.

So we’re just gonna get the letters on the 15th? noooo :frowning: last year they were doing it online! ughh
