im thinking about majoring in international relations/affairs in college...and im wondering, what types of jobs can i get at the UN/how do i get to work at the UN? i mean, internships are obvious...

i guess i just really want to know what im getting into

and i know this is the high school forum, but if anyone knows of anyone who majors in international relations, please let me know what its like!

I'd like to know, too. :) I'm very interested in international relations. However, I sort of worry that most international relations majors end up in the business arena, which I'm not really into. They say learn lots of languages, go to a decent school, get connections, and see where it leads you.

i know some jobs are in particular demand for the UN such as certified language speakers, I would also like to know any oppurtunities for high school students in the UN, I am fascinated by and intend to major in Sociology, or anyything pertaining to social justice

Look at their website - www.un.org - and you'll find job postings with required qualifications as well as intern and volunteer info. I just found out that English and French are the two working languages of the UN Secretariat, so if you have a desire to work at the UN, I'd suggest mastering those two languages and building from there.
