I know this sounds very obvious and simple, but in my attempt at doing so, it has become incredibly hard and frustrating. Like doing research for an essay, I have no idea where credible sources of information are, where to even begin, and how to even make final evaluations. What are some trustworthy websites that I can go to for information, what type of information should I be looking for? How do I know when I've done enough research to put a school on my "apply-to-this-school-in-the-fall" list?

Well for me visiting campus was more helpful than any research I could have done, but to start you could use college board’s search system to look up colleges you’re interested in. Then check out the individual college’s site, youtube channels, etc. Read books about these colleges. There was a good book that gave you some overviews of colleges, “The Insider View of Colleges” which helped me figure some things out. Uniggo reviews is good for the social aspect, but with everything take it with a grain of salt. As always, there is CC to ask about perhaps what schools would be good for something you are considering and advice. You can also use it to contact current students about their experiences. But after narrowing down your list, I can’t emphasize the visit enough. You’ll either figure out it is a hit or miss and if you’d really want to spend time there by your first impressions, and maybe even follow up visits for determining your application list. Keep in touch with some of the people and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Good luck
