How far away do you want to go for college?

I don’t really have a geographic preference except that I don’t want to be in CT (where I live). Massachusetts is ok, though. So is Minnesota (Carleton/Mac). And Northern California. Just not the deep South (I don’t like hot weather all that much, but I can tolerate about to North Carolina).

East Coast not including NY, NJ, PA down to Virginia, and the upper Midwest.

NYU…
hour and a half train ride
and then anywhere from 1-2 hours driving, depends on the traffic on the Long Island expressway

If you want to experience a completely different culture than the one in your part of the country, you’ll need more than 4 hours away to get that. But if you’re just worried about your parents being too involved, know that 4 hours is more than enough to keep them away. I have a friend at college 2-2.5 hours away, and his parents have visited once…with their other son to take a tour. And my best friend’s sister is also 2 ish hours away, and her mom comes once every few months but only because my friend is close to her sister and they like to hang out. Otherwise, their lives are completely separate.

I 'm going up north. NY or something

East Coast, baby!

West Coast, baby! I’m only applying to 1 college that I’m pretty sure I’ll get into that’s in-state and about 5 in California, which is out-of-state. I might not be able to go to California since OOS students have to add $22k+ to their in-state students costs!!!

Haha since it looks like I’ll be going to school in Maine, it’ll be just over 5,000 miles, 17 hours, or three plane rides away.

I had really hoped that Vanderbilt wouldn’t give me a good financial aid like Johns Hopkins did because I live in Tennessee and I want to go FAR AWAY.

I want to experience the world, baby. (let’s not consider the fact that I used to live in Baltimore seven years ago, haha)

Part of me is obstinate to get from under my parents’ ready umbrella.

I want to go to Princeton. So… 25 minutes haha
