Hi, I'm a junior and I'm wondering how good these Ecs are for Ivies/other top schools? I'd really appreciate honest feedback. Thanks so much! I'll gladly chance anyone. :)

-co-president of a charity club
-200+ hrs of volunteer work
-started online bookstore on Amazon
-works as tutor
-Area All-State orchestra
-going abroad to work as an English teacher this summer
-editor of 2 magazines (one at school and one outside of school)
-NCTE writing contest semifinalist
-alternate for state piano recital (like All-State orchestra but for piano; out of 80 people only 15-20 got chosen, I don't remember)
-tennis team as freshman but stopped b/c of health
-valedictorian for weekend language school

Wow! See, THIS is the type of things that the top schools want to see. Especially the online bookstore and the going abroad to work as a teacher. Make sure you elaborate on the latter, that seems like it would be an amazing EC. Keep working yourself up, keep going, and I think you have a fair and honest chance to get into a top or an ivy league. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I really appreciate it! Does anyone else have any more opinions? Thanks! I’ll chance anyone, just give me your link. :)

ECs are seriously fantastic, especially if you are planning to major in english/journalism.
How did you end up with the opportunity to go abroad and teach english?

OF course, ECs are important but schools also look at GPA, Rank and SAT.

me?

Your ECs seem pretty amazing, particularly if you pick whichever one you’re most passionate about and really emphasize it in an essay. Of course, you never know with Ivies, but for other top schools you should be pretty good (depending on academics and all that, of course.)

Rate my ECs? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1295148-how-my-ecs.html

Yes, top notch. If you can Elaborate in your essays you would be looked upon very fairly.

By teaching English, I mean ESL to people who aren’t native speakers. I don’t plan on going into English/journalism… this might sound a bit ironic but English isn’t my best subject (the English teachers in my school are VERY tough) but I like editing and being part of literary magazines. Will colleges take this in a bad way? Thanks so much! I’ll chance you guys right after I submit this post. :)
