Let's just say I get accepted to Williams on December 15th. I've maintained a 3.96 taking tough classes in high school. How good would my 1st sememster and for that matter 2nd semester grades have to be to stay accepted?

In other words what's the biggest drop that's still accceptable?

A friend of my son went from straight As to As and Bs in IB. Overall average dropped from above 95 to 92ish. No probs at Tufts. I have no other data.

I think 2 or 3 of my 6 grades went down a half letter grade. I’d say relax, but don’t slack off too much. If one class is giving you grief (BC Calc for me hahaha), then one drop from A/A- to B-/C+ won’t rescind your acceptance. If more than half of your grades drop, then admissions might be questioning.

This is mostly speculative, but I think I’m probably on the right track. I know that all of my friends still put some effort into their second semester work and still went to the same school to which they committed.
