I have been doing marching band for three years now, and I’m going on to my fourth year. I am most likely going to get a leadership role, such as section leader. The problem is, I hate it. It does not make me happy at all. I loved it freshman year, but I’ve been pushing through the last 2 years just to have something good to put on my resume.
If I don’t do marching band, I’m probably going to get an internship and a job, and try to do a larger variety of ECs.
I want to get into a competitive school more than anything, but should I push through 5 more months of doing something I don’t like just to get a leadership role? How will a marching band leadership role look in comparison to internships and jobs, and is it worth continuing band for it? (I’m still doing concert band, and next year will be my 7th year.)
Do what you love. An internship and job will be great experience. Don’t push through something to just get into college. It’s not worth it.
