How happy is Vassar?

yeah just do it. as for the bush-bashing, i gotta say i can't quite see it as unfounded, despite wanting to stay neutral. would you just like to talk to me directly in case you have other questions? my AIM is damnnaiton

Lol, I don't see it as totally unfounded either. As I said, I just don't want to be "indoctrinated" when I go to college - I just want to be able to decide for myself. And as for the cold, I'm sure I'll learn to deal. I hear the tray-sledding at Vassar is the highlight of the social scene.

tray-sledding is crazy fun. but we call it traying. simple, cute and effective. it's great. the cold isn't too bad, really, you get eased into it i guess.

There's a ski slope at Vassar, too, isn't there?

EDIT: Maybe I'm thinking of Middlebury.

um, i think the best slope we have is the one by sunset lake. i really don't think that'd count as a full ski slope though, it's wayyyyy too small. But it is great for traying, as long as you're careful to stop in time (particularly in snow tubes) otherwise you could end up in the lake.

All of this paints such a happy picture of the school! I love it...

mmm, yet another reason to love it!

This is random, but is there an ice skating rink nearby anywhere?

there's an ice rink at the Mccann Center(arena?) in the Cty of Poughkeepsie and Vassar has tried in the past to prepare one of the small ponds for skating but I don't know how successfully. And further away at the Mohonk Mountain House(near New Paltz 1/2 hour away) there is a skating rink that will knock your romantic socks off. The escape to the wilds to be had out there at Miinewaska and the Gunks and Mohonk Preserve is the defining feature of the Mid-hudson area for me.

Yay! Thanks for the info, rorosen. :)

Is there any feeling among woment at Vassar that it would be better without the male students?

ahh, all-women's, boo

I have to admit that Vassar is one of the best places on earth. I am biased since I just graduated from there (2005). People at Vassar are SO NICE. Seriously there is a campus 'problem' (I believe there has even been articles in the Misc-campus newspaper-about it), that people obsessively hold the door open for others. Example, you are walking into the north door of main heading to the registrars office, you see someone coming towards main they are just getting off the library lawn (are now about 50-100 feet from you), you hold the door for them. Sometimes it's actually funny, people will hold the door for you when you are just so far away from them. People are always smiling, seriously I smile just thinking of the place (it also helps I am heading up there in about 6 hours for the weekend). I always used to take solace in the fact that no matter how stressed I was (it does get stressful) that the beautiful campus, wonderful people and amazing professors would always get a smile out of me. (The campus is so pretty it's hard not to smile, even when it's gross and raining).

The professors are amazing!!! Seriously, I just finished applying to dental school and one of my biggest advantages was my recommendation letter. It was a committee letter, it was 5 pages. You really get to know your professors and they really care about you, take advantage of that.

Vassar was an amazing 4 years, it was actually hard to adjust to life outside Vassar, it really hit me at our 100 nights after graduation party that I really wasn't going back for another year.

Please do not hesitate to message me if you have any questions, I am more than willing to help.

Doubt it, considering that very few girls want to be in Strong.
