How hard are these classes?

Hello, I will be a freshmen this fall and I am not sure if I should add another course to my current schedule. Currently, I will be taking COMM107, BMGT110F, BMGT230, CPSF100, UNIV100 and ECON200. Should I add CHEM177 on there as well or is this enough? It’s 15 credits.

15 credits is just right for your first semester - you do not want to add any more classes.

Not sure why you would be interested in signing up for CHEM177…does not fulfill a gen ed, is a co-requisite lab (that is to be taken at same time as 131, 135 or 146) and this class is only open to students in the CMNS department (based on other classes, it look you are a business student )…?

Thanks Maryversity. I was thinking about taking a CHEM course because I am not exactly sure if I want to do business. I also like science. I wanted to try science courses to see which I liked better. Do you have any suggestions? I APed out of the intro chem and bio classes.

Well, since I don’t know what classes would interest you personally, I would suggest looking at science classes that also fulfill a gen ed req. If you look at the gen ed classes offered for natural science, you will see quite a variety. So, scroll through all the offerings in each department and see what pops out at you. College is supposed to be a time to enjoy learning/discover yourself, so pick a class you are actually interested in and go from there. In this way, if you decide to stay in business, you won’t have “wasted” time by taking a class just for fun/out of curiosity since it fulfills a gen ed also. Make sense? Here is the link for the fall classes - there may be some different offerings in the spring https://ntst.umd.edu/soc/gen-ed/201508/DSNS

The advisors won’t actually let you take more than 16 credits your first semester because you don’t have an established GPA to show that you can handle the workload.
