How hard do you have to work for med school?

Currently I am a junior in high school in Southern California, and I wanted to know how hard is it to get into the UC schools and prominent universities around California? Right now my GPA isn't very good either, like a 3.3-3.4, but I have a lot of extra curricular activities. I really want to get into med school, mostly UCLA. For all the people that got accepted in to UCLA, how hard was it and what exactly did you do to be able to get in? Because I want to know if it still isn't late to get better. RIght now I'm in my 2nd semester of Junior year, and it's almost finished, and since junior year is basically most critical, I hope I did enough work. Anyone got any advice?

Do you mean UCLA med school or UCLA undergrad school?

Med school. But the thing that I am worrying about is actually getting into UCLA first, then I will worry about Med. Advice?

I heard that UCLA has this new approach in their review emphasizing more on ecs, so you're in luck. I never thought I would have gotten in w/ my low numbers. I think my ecs and essays helped a lot.

Since UCLA is a public school it doesn't (or at least tries not to) prefer their students for their graduate programs. I would like to attend UCLA med school too, but I THINK it must be competitive for UCLA undergrads to get in there.
