How hard is Economics at Middlebury

1.) How difficult Is economics at Middlebury?
2.) I heard there are an overwhelming number of students who take econ at Midd how does this effect the program

3.) Am I better off taking poli science if I want a better gpa

  1. It's not very difficult. I took a 200 level Econ class in my first semester and it wasn't too hard. If you work hard enough getting an A is possible.
  2. Yes. This is one of the reasons I decided not to major in International Politics and Economics. The department is just flooded with uninterested and mediocre students. Class sizes tend to be quite large. In the class that I took I was among the few who kept asking questions and others seemed disinterested. When I asked my friends who took other Econ classes about problems, they said that they had the same problems.
  3. I definitely think you can get a better GPA in Econ than in PoliSci. PoliSci classes tend to be more discussion based at least in my experience. And I think it's harder to score an A based on your papers as compared to exams as in Econ.
