I plan on possibly pursuing a M.Arch, after getting a bachelors in something else from an LAC. I would really like to know the acceptance rates for places like washu, cornell, mit, michigan, minnesota, harvard, etc., but I can't find them anywhere! Anyone have any info?

The acceptance rates into a MArchI program vary. At many of the top schools, it is very low! For example: Harvard 20%, MIT 17%, RISD 10%, Yale 9%, UVA 15%. A few top schools have a bit better odds such as: Penn 47%, Rice 35%, U of Cinci 40%, Berkeley 26%, Syracuse 54%, UMichigan 65%, Pratt 50%, and Wash U 73%. I know that Princeton is very low but I don't know their actual rate (likely similar to Yale's).

I have a kid in the middle of this admission process and it is a bit daunting about the odds.

Besides the info from soozievt, check out "Guide to Architecture Schools" from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. They list rates for most schools. It is the 7th Edition which came out in 2004 but it will give you some idea of the rates.

soozie, very interesting statistics. My son and I were just discussing the same. It's a bit different from applying to undergrad as if you're disappointed in your acceptances you always have the option of working for awhile and re-applying.

How many schools did your daughter end up applying to?

Momrath....I'm happy to say her apps are all in, along with portfolios and it is a big relief for her. She applied to ten schools. I thought your son and my daughter would be in the same cycle but alas they are not. So, next year, I can be the parent whose kid went through it, though originally I thought you'd be that guiding parent to me (as your son is a year ahead of my D).

I have applied Pratt, Harvard, Yale, Upenn, U Arizona, ASU

And now waiting for results, I am a Chinese, just graduate from HUNAN Univ. in Hunan Province, China. The rate of acceptance indicated domestic students, maybe. Anyone knows about the rate of acceptence for international students?

I believe the acceptance rates do not delineate between domestic and international students but represent the OVERALL rate of admission. That said, many of these MArch programs have a lot of international students in them.

Thank you for your information, soozievt. when I think about it again, I think you are correct. Do you have any idea about other similar website where I can exchange ideas with others about application, here is more about college, right? especially, where can i discuss about the portfolio.

Wow, RISD is really competitive! I never knew... Does anyone have the stats for Columbia or SCIArc?

multiplylee: you are free to discuss whatever you want related to the application process here. Everyone is really friendly and more than glad to help.

Thanks for the rate numbers.
This really helps.

sorry to bring up an old topic, but can anyone verify if the high acceptance rate for wash u (this is st louis right?) is really 73%?

soozievt, may I ask you where can I find the new acceptance rates to MArch I?
Thank you

Does anyone know how things change for MArch II? (the Rate)
