How hard is it to switch into MechE from ChemE?

Hello! I was wondering how hard it is to switch into MechE from ChemE, and when I would be able to do so. Thanks!

My understanding with engineering at Cornell is that you don’t formally declare your major until first semester sophomore year. It looks like you haven’t even applied yet; figure out which major best aligns with what you think you want to do and apply there, but with the knowledge that you don’t have to technically affiliate with a program until a few semesters in.

Ranza123 is correct, you don’t immediately affiliate with your major in the engineering school; from their website: “Students apply for affiliation with a Major during the first semester of their second year”. You can switch up all your classes on the first day of the semester when add/drop opens with no consequences.

Thank you!
