How hard is it to take 6 courses in one semester, compared to taking only 5 classes, which most of the students seem to do. I want to graduate in three years and I would like to know.

Many people take 6 courses a term, especially in SEAS (you're SEAS, no?). I took 7 classes in 2 of my semesters. It really isn't the number of courses as much as it is what you're taking. It is just a function of whether you're disciplined enough, etc. You might want to start with 5 your first semester and see how you adjust to college. The worst thing would be to do crappy in all your classes.

Yea, if your 6 courses include alot of silly classes where you can do nothing and get by then you'll be fine, but if they are intensive courses then it is quite hard but very doable.
