Hey, I was just wondering if its much harder to transfer into the engineering program than it would if you were say, a psychology major? My GPA is really not good right now as I have a cumulative 2.62 and a 2.5 in the engineering prereqs. I am trying to transfer the spring semester from SUNY Cortland but I think I may need to spend another semester there to get my grades up so that I can get in.

With that GPA you probably won’t make it in engineering, even if you get into the program.

You might just make it. Check out
[Admission for Transfer Students](<a href=“Transfer Admission - UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences - University at Buffalo”>Transfer Admission - UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences - University at Buffalo)
In order to receive consideration for transfer admission to the University at Buffalo, it is recommended that students present a strong record of college study, earning a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. For admission into the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences students also need to complete at least three courses in their desired major and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all previous major requirement courses in math, science, and engineering.

Post #3 is correct. You can get in.

do you think that me applying as early as possible made a difference? I applied the first day open for the spring semester (08/01/2012). Considering the application process is rolling I thought that I would have a better chance if I applied earlier. Also to the first response, I didn’t take my time at Cortland seriously and did not go to class as much as I should have. When I did go to class, the material was nothing I couldn’t handle. When I go to Buffalo I will be taking my schoolwork much more seriously.

well…by some miracle i got accepted into the program so everything worked out perfectly

Hey Shogun82, how were your grades when you applied? I am also planning to transfer into Buffalo Engineering with grades in the same range.

I was accepted into the engineering program with an 82 average. When I fail out in October you can take my place!
