If you’re majoring in any type of science such as Biology, Chemistry, etc, you cannot skip science classes with AP scores. You HAVE to take those pre-requisite classes. I’m not sure if you can get placed higher if you take the Chem Placement Exam though.

I heard you get credit for biology AP, but not sure if that means you get to skip…

is it just a placement thing?

Well, getting credit for the class is basically like skipping it because you wouldn’t take a class you already passed. This is only for science majors though, not every major.

so I can’t take Biology my first quarter either if I’m placed in math8A?

I have a genius friend who took Organic Chemistry last year and he was complaining. But never lose hope because someone else didn’t get the material. Believe.

Whiteclock got right to the point! lol

even with a 5, you dont skip anything. esp a/b/c and go to organic… nuuuhuh lol.
with math, you can skip a quarter or two, but no way any sci classes…

and yes, ochem is 12 on a 1-10 scale. pchem (omg cant wait!!) is a 15.5 on a 1-10 scale…

Meh

I expected as much

I shoulda taken more humanities/english AP classes lol

I could be done with english in one quarter, and get like 8 more credits for history if I had changed my APs’…

hm… what about the chem placement exam?
Someone told me they were taking it… does that exempt you from chem?

I don’t think there is a chem placement exam

the only prerequisite you need for general chem, or chem 1 a, is a certain level of math

Plus, OChem will be hard in ANY university… difficulty at UCR won’t be any different than at UCLA.

grades/curves/competitiveness are different, however.

There is chem1w, which some ppl have to take before they can go on to chem1a/b/c
i think if you really suck at math/chem you get placed into chem1w… sry being mean again, if you have not brushed up on your chemistry then you get placed in chem 1w* [=

I would end up there I spent a year in ap chem all I learned was to call my coach a F****king fat ass that will never get laid

Question: Why is Organic Chemistry so difficult to learn/master?

there are bajillions of things to memorize

plus, the syntax is weird

I looked at my bro’s organic chem textbook and I didn’t understand any of the terms…
