How helpful is geographic diversity?

I am sort of borderline it appears on getting in. (I have a 1930 SAT with 550 Math, 740 reading and 640 writing with a 3.7 UWGPA as a Full IB candidate)

However, I’m from Portland, OR and I’m certain there aren’t many UW kids from Portland. How helpful is my geographic diversity?

Nonresidents have a much lower admit rate since the school’s mission is to educate the states residents.

UW isn’t trying to get students from everywhere- as above, need to educate instate students first. Public schools are different than private ones in selecting a “class”. No expectations of unity among those starting the same semester et al, especially given the large numbers of entering freshmen and no common core classes.
