WELL…I just wanted to find out when exactly I could apply to the college (because, of course, my college’s website is messed up)…got a different person each time (all of which were rude) AS WELL as a different date each time! I eventually had to drive over to the school and ASK THEM IN PERSON…AND I STILL GOT A WRONG DATE!
Long story short, I just kept refreshing their website every day and eventually I was able to apply on time…
Unfortunately, I think most of the office people, regardless of the college, are rude and have no idea what they’re doing.
I don’t understand why the representatives at the school would give smart-ass answers or be mad when someone calls (albeit everyday) and asks questions. First of all, it’s the job of those people to answer any and all questions. Second, college is a new experience for many parents and their children, so of course there are going to be many questions that need answers. The reps need to just suck it up and do their jobs.
I am the first person in my family who is going off to college. We are new to this whole thing.
Bopper, what do you expect me to do if I don’t understand what they are saying (regarding financial aid)? Does that make me stupid? Also, we always check the website beforehand. So, don’t assume that we don’t.
Sorry if this reply sounds blunt, but at this point I just feel like people are teaming up against me. Again, I am sorry.
I agree you call. Just like anything if you don’t understand it, engage and learn it. My parents only get involve with me. So yes they will have several questions for me, but that’s why I do my homework. I wouldn’t want my parents taking care of my dorm, that is my home. Financial aid is like a job, it’s money, you going to tell an employer I don’t understand my job so my mom is going to do it.
Turn the page and look for the best in people not the worst. Every action creates a reaction.
Nitro11, at least your reply was worded nicer than the others. It’s too late to go back and be the one to call now as college is starting soon. If I would to have anymore questions, I would do the calling.
Thanks for the positive answers. For the negative answers, I hope you are nicer in person.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln here. I have only called once, and that was to change my orientation date. But they were very helpful and understanding, and they changed it right away.
