So I did my Sat back at December and I got a score slightly higher than 1500. I've originally applied to NYUAD but I got rejected so now I've applied to the University of Michigan. I've always have been a straight A student since I was a kid, I always volunteer and all that but I dunno what happened to me when I did the SAT, I was just uncomfortable and stressed out plus that exam is horrible I mean SAT is like a 6 hour exam I cant do it again :( Any who, My application is already sent and the University Of michigan is already checking it out. Would yall advice me to send the score I already got or do you think I shouldn't send it at all. My father told me that they could accept me without sending a SAT score but they would tell me that I cant get in tell I do the Sat and get a specific score. What would you guys advice me to do? :/

The SAT is not six hours long. If you have to send it, send it. You may get rejected because that score is low. It would be to your advantage to try to improve it, unless you’re a senior and don’t have time. You may have to go to community college if you can’t get in anywhere…

Sorry this is definitely not going to get you in to UMich.

Did you submit an ACT?

You must submit at least one standardized test. I do not understand your father’s advice, but perhaps you are not being clear. If you have not submitted a test score, your application is incomplete, and would not be considered. Also, the deadline for regular decision at UM was a full month ago.

Admission standards at UM are not less than NYU, so I am unsure what your plan is. I am also assuming, possibly incorrectly, that when you say NYU AD you mean ED.

UM uses a six point holistic process from admission. The points are GPA, course rigor, testing, recommendation, essays and extra curriculars.

On the face of it, your testing is low, but we do not have a full picture of your application.

I hope you have applied to more than two schools, because both schools are challenging to be accepted to, and neither one was a safety.

You should have taken them again. I took standardized tests 8 times in total because they were the weakest part of my application. If you were really motivated you would have done it… No excuse.

Nah I meant AD as in the campus in Abu Dhaibi, much more challenging then NYU

hm, it’s much easier to get into NYU-AD than into NYU-NYC, and it’s easier to get into both than into UMich.
Which other colleges have you applied to?
Are you first generation (neither parent got a 4 year degree)?

UMich requires the SAT otherwise they won’t even read your application. 75% students have at least 1800-1850 but those admitted with 1700-1800 are special cases (legacies, students who had to overcome great obstacles, etc).
If you’re unhooked (not an athlete, not a legacy, etc.,), to have a decent chance you’d need about 1900-2000 and a 3.75 UW GPA.

UM requires the SAT or the ACT. Either will do, or both if you’re feeling fancy.

Here’s more information. At UM- GPA is of primary importance:
