Hope to see you at FIT!

Hi! I am a senior in high school, and I was wondering what your SAT scores were in high school and if they look at your high school transcript even though your a transfer from college? Also, what made you choose FIT, did you apply to any other schools?

Hello! I actually never took the SATs in high school; instead, I went straight to a junior college, applied directly into FITs 2 year bachelor program, and got accepted =]

According to their site:
“SAT and ACT test scores are not required for admissions purposes. They are, however, required for the Presidential Scholars Program. They are also required for placement into your English and Math classes at FIT. International students who have not taken the SAT or ACT exam, will need to take the FIT English and Math Placement Exams before registering for any English, Math and Science courses.”

As for why I chose FIT… Well I’m from San Diego and I was getting ready to transfer to San Diego State University for their Integrated Marketing Communications program BUT I really want to experience life outside of SD. I love the big city (which I discovered when I lived in Chicago for a year) so what better place than New York?!

I looked at other schools but only applied to FIT after I discovered their Direct & Interactive Marketing program, which is very similar to IMC at SDSU. Also, it’s relatively inexpensive compared to the other schools there and best of all, it’s in Manhattan <3 I can’t wait for the move next Friday!

Hope this helps! Best of luck to you =] xoxo

I am very Interested in the Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design Major. Moving from Florida to NYC for Fall 2014 semester. Haven’t applied yet, what kind of tips can you give me.

Something’s to keep in mind:
I will already have completed my BA in Accounting by that time.
3.9 High School GPA and 2.75 College GPA.
Never taken Art or drawing courses

Will I need a portfolio?

Any advice helps.

Hello!

Hmmm I’m not too familiar with that program but I will tell you that they require a portfolio. Also, FIT generally accepts students with at least a 3.0 GPA (although your High School GPA is great, they will still factor in your college GPA heavily). So since FIT is a competitive school, I would advise you to try to raise your GPA before you apply.

It’s okay if you haven’t taken any art classes, I’m positive you’re a natural!! Be sure to give yourself lots of time to work on your portfolio; and get lots of input on it–preferably from someone with a critical eye.

If you raise your GPA and produce an awesome portfolio, you’ll be sure to get in!

Good luck and hope to see you there! =]

How does FIT feel about withdrawals and F’s?

If you attended, do you like your experience so far?
