How impacted is Criminology in UCI? UCI is my dream school and i want to know how competitive it is? As far as i know, UCI is the only UC that offers Criminology and i really want to get in this school? I am confident that i can get my GPA up (since i did mediocre my first year in CC) by the time i apply in the Fall of 2016.
Not to shatter your dreams, but UCI Ian’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Criminology is a huge major with huge classes (400+) and a fairly weak graduate student population.
I personally would look elsewhere for your own sake.
Well its kind of my only option as a UC (besides UCB) that provides this major besides CSU’s. Not that i dont like CSU’s i would just prefer a UC. Is it challenging to get in for my major though? (And do you attend UCI if you dond mind me asking?)
and if you are a UCI student, how did you get in? Like what was your GPA and all that stuff? Also are they fairly strict with selecting students or are they flexible and understandable when choosing applicants. Im not the best student but not the worst. I just did a bit mediocre during my first year of CC, but now im busting my butt off my grades. Thank you if you answer my question
Most UC classes for many majors are like that though. I would base your choice on which program is best in terms of making you good at your job… Cause you can suck and have a Yale degree in criminology or be awesome and have a Channel Islands degree… To an extent the school you get a BS from isn’t going to hold heaps of weight after you get working. Check out the 2015 transfer student thread for UCI there are criminology majors who were accepted that reported their GPA. Fleet feet will hopefully qualify his response.
