i wouldn't be concerned with grade inflation, but i want to go on to grad school; i've heard that kids with low gpa's (even in tough schools) get shafted. so i've cut it down to two schools: notre dame (good amount of grade inflation) and wash u (not so much). how big of a factor should this be in deciding?

i'm planning on going to law school, if that matters.

Then go to the school that has the most grade inflation. Law schools play the numbers game and it's to your advantage to go to the most grade-inflated school you got into. :D

can't edit: from what i can gather, the average gpa at wash u is 3.0-3.1, while notre dame is 3.3-3.4.

so do grad schools have a way of knowing that some schools have lower grades than others? sorry i'm naive about this.

while law schools will know about the grade inflation at most schools, and where you stand among your graduating class (and you better be near the top)..grade inflation will help you out a little...

put it this way

if you are 5th in your class of 500 with a 3.8
versus
5th in your class of 500 with a 3.4

sure, the rank is the same, but even if you are informed of grade inflation, the first one looks a little better.
