After my sophomore year I moved internationally to America. I don’t think my international school used Naviance, but in my current public high school in America, they do. The issue is that my most recent SAT in June (the highest so far) doesn’t show up, none of my SSATs show up, and none of my AP scores show up (I took my first AP in my sophomore year but they’re not updated at all). I’m worried if this is a technical issue or if I need to wait because I’m going to be applying soon and I’m not sure how much Naviance is going to affect my applications, (ex. do colleges use Naviance to look at SAT/APs), and I heard teachers and counselors use Naviance to write their recommendations. Does it have any meaning to fill out the lengthy personal information sections (personality, EC’s, resume–I already have a separate resume on a separate document), and other “About Me” information?
Naviance is a tool for the student so that they can accurately gauge their chances to certain schools.
The data on a school’s website is often misleading as GPA fluctuates from school to school.
Naviance shows the average GPA/SAT of admitted applicants from that specific high school and has a graph of roughly the GPA/SAT of all the students (from that high school)who applied to the college in the past couple of years regardless if they were accepted or not.
So do colleges use Naviance as a site of reference, or does it use Common App or the actual application?
Naviance is data collection for YOUR high school – all self reported information for follow-on classes. The info in you school’s Naviance is the collected data from previous seniors. It has NOTHING to do with your actual application process. The colleges never see it. You use the application that each college asks for — often the Common App.
Colleges do not use Naviance themselves. It is a way for your high school to keep track of your info, send documents and information to colleges, and it is a tool for students to use to gauge whether or not they could realistically be admitted to certain schools (although it is questionably accurate in this regard for most schools in the top 50).
No you need to send your test scores to the colleges you apply to. You can ask your GC to put in your test scores if you like. I couldn’t figure out why some of my D’s scores were there and others weren’t. I asked the CG about it and was told sometimes the College Board sends a CD with all the students scores for a test and sometimes they don’t. If they get the CD the upload it to Naviance if they don’t they entered them manually if asked to do so.
Qwerty568 do “documents and information” include SAT scores?
It’s certainly possible that the scores came in so late in June that they weren’t updated before the summer recess… I know my kid’s school didn’t update.
I’m confident that it will be done when school starts again in a few weeks.
How come my SSAT scores don’t show up at all?
Talk to your Guidance Counselor. They load the data in the system.
