How important is undergrad?

I did not get accepted into my top/reach schools but I got into VCU. At first I was really proud of myself. After finding out I did not get into my top schools VCU feelt like an underachievement just because I was so sure I was going to an elite liberal arts school. So basically I am just worried about the graduation rate, the value of a degree from VCU, and grad school potential. I am not saying it is a bad school but it is way less that what I expected and I could have performed half as good as I did in highschool if I was planning on going there so I am just really disappointed. I am even thinking about transfering to UVA after my first year but I dont know the financial risk or anything else about transferring colleges. I know I will do well and have a high gpa but I am just worried I am selling myself short. Any advice?

By the way my other acceptance is Elon. Is it slightly more prestigious than VCU? or it doesn’t matter?

Statistically, you may not want to under-regard the selectivity of Elon:

A large part of college is what you make of the experience. Stop thinking about what you could have done differently in the past and focus on making the most of your college years.

Virginia Commonwealth is an excellent university. I don’t think that you’ll have any post-graduation problems coming from there at all!

The four-year graduation rate may seem low, but it’s an urban university with a not-insignificant part-time student population (11%) and an older average age for students (21 for full-time students, 22 for all students). Students in those groups are more likely to take longer than four years to graduate, but that doesn’t mean that you will take longer than four years to graduate.

Working hard is its own reward. Working hard and achieving in high school makes you better prepared to work hard and achieve at a high level at VCU and in your future career.

How much does vcu cost? What about Elon?
(tuition, fees, room, board) - (grants, scholarships) =

Elon is a very good school and you CAN be proud of yourself for getting in.
VCU is easier to get into but it’s a solid midtier public university.
BTW did you get into the honors college at vcu? Can you still apply?
