Is it possible to transfer from other states?

I have heard from other parents that getting the classes you need at UCLA can be tough...even coming in with extensive AP credits. I also heard some of the classes have ~700+ people in them in a huge auditorium. Would that be OK with you? There may be a benefit to attending a cc for the first semester considering class size and scheduling. It's something to talk to USC Admissions about -

My D did transfer CC from HI to USC. She's the 1st from her CC to go there.

Well, USC is very big, with large classes, too. In my first year at UCLA, I had 4/12 classes (so 1/3rd) with 15 students or less. And these were GEs. My other courses had anywhere from 50-150 students, but met in smaller discussions once-twice per week. I talked to every professor I had. One set me up for lunch with a former presidential candidate. The whole “impersonal” thing is drastically over-rated. I’m sure there are USC students who never talk to their professors; like any university, UCLA or USC will be what you make of it.

Also, UCLA has the highest 4-year graduation rate of any UC, and the average student graduates in 4 years and 1 quarter (with that quarter being taken during summer school…which you already stated you were prepared to do every summer for USC).

So given the circumstances, I think the RIGHT choice is to go to UCLA. Maybe you don’t see it now, but it’s a pretty easy place to fall in love with.
