Right, OK. Rice might be a match for some, but I’d be extremely wary about calling it a safety. :S

My bad, I meant UIUC=safety and well for Rice I applied in the earlier rounds and got in … so it was a fall back.

Oh OK - EA right? Didn’t understand that.

Rice a safety?

If I remember correctly Rice had two early decision rounds, so I applied for the 1st one. I got a half tuition scholarship and was notified of my decision my 15th of Dec. UIUC accepted me too around the same time.

After that I just went ahead with my reach applications - MIT, Stanford & Duke - and got into one of them :D

Though I must admit, that the admissions process has become even more screwed up since the time I applied - more of a crap shoot. Also I feel lots of people on this board under-estimate themselves - all of you have a great shot. In my experience, everything happens for a reason and you will always be rewarded for your efforts!!

@EECS: Thanks
It was really nice of you

Might I ask why you chose JHU (I’m assuming that you chose JHU) over that one reach which you got into?

Actually I don’t go to JHU

Although it is one of the places I intend to go to for grad school!!

Oh you dont???
Thats surprising.. So where do you study?

Yeah, I’m curious as well! :)

Well as I mentioned I’m at one of my reach schools.

More financial aid!!

so what is that reach school u r going to

If it isn’t obvious already, I do not wish to disclose my school!

must be rice???
but then why don,t u want to disclose ur school?
