How is Computer Science at UCSB

Does anyone have insights about the program? How does it compare to other UC computer science programs?
thanks

thats a good question. im currently a comp sci major here but i dont know.

Hey, maybe this might help in answering your question:

<a href="http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/department/choose_ucsb/%5B/url%5D">http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/department/choose_ucsb/</a></p>

From the website:

UCSB has one of the top research programs in Computer Science, ranked #21 in federal funding for academic research. Here are the most recent statistics from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Hope this helps!

It is pretty good, actually. The student:faculty ratio is unusually low (i.e., students get a lot of personal attention and classes are small); and students tend to graduate in 4 years. Best yet, there are numerous "sub-options" to choose from at UCSB: you can get a traditional B.S. in computer science, or you can pursue a B.A. degree in any of these "emphases":
C.S. with an emphasis in computational biology (think human genome project);
C.S. with an emphasis in computational geography (think Google Earth);
C.S. with an emphasis in computational economics.

Bottom line: what used to be thought of as a risky discipline after the tanking of the dot.com bubble is actually a highly sought-after degree.
