As you all might gather from my post history, I’m very unsure about what I want to major in exactly. Barring practicality, I enjoy environmental studies/sciences, whether it’s hands-on field work, policy studies, etc. Seeing as Tufts is ABET accredited in environmental engineering, though, I’m not sure if I should just go for the engineering department given that it might make me more marketable. At the same time, I’m worried that committing to engineering would just involve math and physics coursework rather than environmental-related courses. I guess my question is, how strong are Tufts’ environmental studies and science departments (in terms of career placement, research, etc)?
The environmental studies major in the college of arts and sciences at Tufts is not a standalone major- it has to be combined with another major. I’m in one of the environmental studies courses now and it’s not particularly interesting, more a review of high school ecology. However, Tufts’ science departments in general are very strong in terms of placement or research.
