Are they stingy like some colleges? Or do they give a good amount of FA? I'm wondering because I'm on the poorer side of life (Family of 4, make approx 24,000 a year with govt help because my mother and father are disabled)

If I could go to NU, I would die of happiness.

Not very good. NU is a large university so they have more students to give financial aid to. At a small LAC you’d probably receive a 35k+ gift aid package (or enough to cover costs without having to deal with private loans). Northeastern’s gift aid package is more likely to be around 25k and private loans may be necessary; however they may see your situation are offer you Perkins loans and a SEOG grant to compensate and make the amount of private loans you need smaller. Also do not bank on getting a merit scholarship AND this amount of aid the Financial Aid office will take into account your merit scholarship when giving you need based aid.

I can say with certainty that NU will be more expensive than your state school or small LAC if you are not a full scholarship contender. Please do some calculations and understand what your loan payment will be at the end of your schooling before making your decision! If you want to study English, Art or Biology etc. please consider going somewhere more affordable, I see Northeastern as being only “worth it” in your situation if you want to study Engineering or Business.
