How Is Reed?

I read this book, 40 Colleges that Change Lives, and it speaks very highly of Reed, mentioning how alot of its alums end up getting PhD's or receiving various fellowships/ scholarships. That being said, it also mentions that Reed "wasn't the place to come for a degree or a job, but to become an intellectual novitate". Any current/past Reedies have any thoughts on that?

It means that Reed is not a vocational school. You go there simply to learn and to be able to expand your intellectual capacities that can help you whether you get a job, go to grad school etc etc.

Reed is sometimes considered one of the grad school prep colleges.
