How is the Yale experience compared to other Ivy Leagues?

I really love the idea of Yale and have done tons of research on the university but I would like to hear it from people who know about it first hand.

Hey I’m a current Yale senior, so maybe I can answer some of your questions? I can compare Yale to Harvard, but that’s about it because that’s the only other Ivy I know well enough to compare since my boyfriend goes there.
Honestly, while these universities would beg to differ, the top tier ivies are all the same. there’s really not that much difference between yale or harvard or princeton. sure they are in different places, which effects the overall culture, but the schools themselves are very similar. all have great resources and legendary professors. all of them of full of type-A personalities. at each one you’ll find awesome experiences, and hopefully meet some cool friends along the way…but how much of that is actually unique to the school and how much of it is just chance?

so, to answer your question, yale, harvard, and princeton are all basically the same.

Can you please explain SCEA. How is the culture at Yale? Does being an international student affect me getting in any way, good or bad? And how is the atmosphere?
And as a Yale student aren’t you supposed to say Harvard sucks?

HYP are more similar than different but I do think residential colleges at Yale (assigned prior to entering freshman year) vs. houses at Harvard (figuring out a block at the end of freshman year with which to join a house) vs. eating clubs at Princeton creates different dynamics on campus. The greater emphasis on Greek life at a couple of the other Ivies also creates a slightly different environment.

H and P advertise themselves as more undergraduate focused than other institutions. There are some very, very broad stereotypes about atmospherics at the Ivies and my sense is that they ring true.

HYP have the most generous Fin Aid for international applicants. Thus, they have the most competitive pools and applicants face the toughest odds. Statistically, your chances are less than the already abysmal 6-7% admit rate.

To be honest i am not a big fan of Harvard and Princeton. I have cousins in both of them and they are not to happy with them but my cousin at Yale loves it. Do they accept more international people now? What stereotypes are there about Yale?
