How is U Maryland for double major ECE and Astronautics?

How are the facilities/equipment there for astronautics?
Can internationals get any kind of scholarship there? 'cause I can only afford 22-25 k $ per annum.
How are the students there? Extremely passionate about their subjects or just like their subjects?
How is the overall environment?
Thanks.

They have double majors??? It’s already bad enough they have a Limited Enrollment Program or LEP meaning you have to get certain grades to go into the degree you want in the LEP(psyc, bio, chem, physic, engineering, business etc.)

I dont know, their website is confusing as f.
So, do they have double major or not!?

You can if you want but, obviously, it’s not a requirement.

Well, you can have a double major, but when you apply, it would be for a single major and then you add the second major after you have been admitted. Here is the link for info http://www.eng.umd.edu/advising/forms

However, those specific majors you mention would be tough to complete as double majors in only 4 years/8 semesters because after the first semester, there is very little overlap. Most double majors that I have personally heard that can be done in 4 years in engineering tend to be with math as the second major and more often, rather than having a double major, a lot of engineers choose a minor such as CompSci. Of course, there could be others, but anecdotally, that’s what I am aware of (fyi, I am the parent of an engineering student).

Take a look at the four-year academic plans for those majors (note it is aerospace, not aeronautics and that electric engineering is separate from computer engineering at Maryland) and you will see what I mean. You can use the first page for apples to apples class comparison by course number per semester, and page two for the title of classes for better comprehension.
This is for aerospace engineering

this is for EE

this is for CompE (which is separate from CompSci - both as a major and in a different department)

And, in case you wanted to look at CompSci requirements as a major (note different format since different department - Computer, Math and Natural Sciences (CMNS) compared to A. James Clark School of Engineering)…

Here is the info for CompSci minor

And, finally, here is the page that gives info about math minor (assuming you don’t want double major in math) so u can see what I was referring to about overlap of classes (but note you need to scroll down the page a bit to find the info)

Also, here is a link to a thread I created before that should (hopefull) give you a good sense of Maryland’s engineering in general

Fwiw, the aerospace program is ranked #9 nationally…http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/engineering-doctorate-aerospace-aeronautical-astronautical

Overall, undergraduate engineering is ranked #23 nationally and mechanical engineering is ranked #19 nationally.
