How is USC's academics compare to UCLA's?

So, let's be honest everyone, I don't want the "UCLA SUCKS!" type of response =P

I'm interested in the science field, although I have no idea what kind,(MAYBE Physics). and I'm also interested in minoring in East Asian languages and culture or East Asian Studies. How do UCLA and USC compare in both of these fields? Is USC a big enough school that the students will get similar treatments as the UCLA students do(such as overpopulated classes, professors focus only on research, etc)

I think that you will get an excellent education at both. USC will probably offer you smaller classes and a more "tightly-knit" environment, where UCLA will probably offer you access to more fancy research opportunities.

East Asian languages, in my opinion, can be done well at both. Both use very similar materials for undergrads, so don't worry too much.

hmmm no one else? lol is this really that boring of a topic

I think the level of academics is similar but the process is much different. In many cases one trip to both UCLA and USC will help you decide. Check out the campus and sit in on some of the larger classes then visit the dorms. Of course look at the price tag.

Personally, it's really up to the individual and their tastes. My sister went to USC and loved it there while I chose UCLA and, so far, am having a great time. Visiting the campus will definitely help, as both campuses give off a different vibe and fell.

The problem is.....I go to school in Philadelphia. I won't get a chance to visit either schools anytime soon. =(

The two schools are totally different as far as atmosphere, administration, student body, location, etc. but you will get a world class education at either one... they are both ranked very highly and are well respected. Good luck.
