My son applied to two schools a few weeks ago. Both applications were done online and then ACT scores and high school transcipts were ordered. His school does not mail the transcripts. Instead, he had to put in a request for two sets and then pick them up three days later. They were in a sealed school envelope that he had to stamp, address and mail himself. Both were mailed nine days ago. Both schools he applied to let him track the progress of his application online. One of the schools showed the transcripts arriving two days later and he found out yesterday he has been admitted. The other school still shows the transcripts as "outstanding". Both schools are in the same state (not our state) and only a few hundred miles apart. The school that shows his transcipts as not received is a very large state university (the other school is a large state university). He emailed admissions and was told to allow up to two weeks for transcripts to be received. We're trying to figure out if they are actually there but still sitting in a pile on someone's desk, or if they're lost in the mail. Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

I don’t have any experience really (I’m only a hs senior this year) but based on the fact that it’s a large state university, they might have a bunch of transcripts and such coming in right now. So it could have arrived already but is just waiting to be sorted whereas the smaller college had fewer applicants to sort through. I’ve seen posts on here that say usually the college will contact you after the deadline if you are missing school forms but have your application in.

I think you’re probably right, nineum. I just read a few older posts about the same problem. In a world of instant everything, we’re not used to things not happening immediately. But if others have had the same thing happen, I’m going to relax and visualize the transcripts sitting in an in box waiting to be processed!
