How long is a "brief essay"?

<p>Hey y'all, approximately how long were your essays for #2 on the JH supplement?</p>

<p>I'm not sure how long mine should be...</p>

<p>Also, I already submitted the common app to another school, so now I can't go and revise my essay. Since I have to keep my common app essay, does that mean I shouldn't upload a document for question #1 on the supplement? It says, "Students applying as freshmen to Johns Hopkins using the Common Application plus the Johns Hopkins Supplement must submit either the Common Application essay OR question 1 below."</p>

<p>I intend to just use my common app essay (which happens to answer question number one anyway). I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding the instructions.</p>

<p>I haven't written my #2 essay yet, but I'll let you know when I get it done.</p>

<p>You don't have to answer question #1 if you are using your essay on the Common App, but if you upload an answer it will treat that one as the main essay and your Common App essay as a supplement.</p>

<p>As for your second question ... it is your choice if you want to answer the Hopkins essay #1 (communities essay). Since you have submitted an answer to one of the Common App. essays you do not need to submit one for Hopkins essay #1. But you can if you want. You do have to answer Hopkins essay #2 ... that is required of all applicants.</p>
